Bill Cotter was born in Dallas. His first two novels, Fever Chart (2009) and The Parallel Apartments (2014) were published by McSweeney’s, and his next two, Saint Philomene’s Infirmary (January 2018) and Second Chance (March 2021), will be published by Henry Holt. His short fiction has appeared in The New Orleans Review, The Paris Review, Electric Literature, McSweeney’s, and elsewhere. Cotter lives in Austin, where he has just finished a novel about the lottery, titled The Splendid Ticket. As his day job, Cotter labors as an antiquarian bookseller.
