John O’Connor is from Kalamazoo, Michigan, the original home of Gibson guitars. He writes for The New York Times, Oxford American, and Financial Times, among other publications. His writing has also appeared in the journals Open City, Post Road, Quarterly West, and the anthologies The Best American Food Writing 2018 and The Best Creative Nonfiction, volume 1. He teaches journalism at Boston College.
