Rafia Zakaria is the author of The Upstairs Wife: An Intimate History of Pakistan (2015) and Veil (2017). She is a regular contributor to CNN and a columnist for Dawn and The Baffler. Her work has appeared in The Paris Review, The New York Times, The Nation, Ecotone, and many other publications. She has traveled and spoken on feminist issues around the world, from Mindanao, in the Philippines, to Ferrara, in Italy. She was the first Pakistani American woman to join the board of Amnesty International USA, where she served for two terms between 2009 and 2015.
