Walton Ford is a contemporary American painter known for his large-scale precise illustrations of animals. Employing a style based in the tradition of naturalist illustrators John James Audubon and Karl Bodmer, Ford infuses his scenes with cultural criticism and humor. His subversive images are often layered with meaning regarding the relationship between humans and the natural world, as seen in his monograph Walton Ford: Pancha Tantra (2007).
