Jeff Tandy (aka Wrath Sathariel Diabolus) co-founded his first metal band in 1989 at the age of 14. The group was called Afterbirth, and they performed crossover thrash before transforming into a death metal band called Diabolus. Demos exist from both bands, but they were virtually undistributed.Tandy went on to form Averse Sefira with Sam Spoor (Sanguine Mapsama) in 1996, and the group ultimately became one of North America’s acclaimed black metal acts. Averse Sefira has participated in notable tours in North and South America, as well as the European continent. Averse Sefira has also appeared in multiple documentaries and published works that chronicle the black metal phenomenon.
