In this workshop, visual artist and poet Bianca Stone guides you in making a four-panel poetry comic. You can use any poem you’d like; or you can use this one, that Bianca is using:
Wintry light,
My memories are
Steep stairwells in dusty buildings
On dead-end streets,
Where I talk to the walls
And closed doors
As if they understood me.
–– CHARLES SIMIC, from Sixty Poems
To start, select lines from the poem you are using and divide them among the four panels. Then, find images to accompany each line. For this, gou can draw on each panel or make a collage using found objects and clips from old magazines.
